The 1975 consists of Matthew Healy (vocals/guitar), Adam Hann (lead guitar), George Daniel (drums), and Ross MacDonald (bass), all of whom are from Macclesfield in Cheshire, England. The four band members, now based in Manchester, met in Secondary School and began playing together as teenagers. The eclectic four-piece band have amorphous drifts between brooding art rock, crisp electronica, dancefloor R&B, and 80’s gloss pop, as well as lead singer Matthew “Matty” Healy’s stories of lust, intoxication, and the unabashed grittiness of modern youth. Common themes in their lyrics range anywhere from dysfunctional relationships, to the failure of modernity.Throughout 2012, The 1975 released multiple EPs, which sparked the start of their careers. The following year, 2013, their self-titled debut album took the world by storm. From 2014 until 2015 the band’s focus was on touring, though they did reveal through photos on social media that their next sound would reflect a departure from their previously black-and-white aesthetic, and this time, they embark on their music career to release this whooping track titled “The 1975 (BFIAFL)” which is here for your pleasing audience and Free MP3 Download on our platform, Mixloaded.com.

For the intro to Being Funny in a Foreign Language, The 1975 is once again labelling the first track as “The 1975”.

In the past, the opening track on the band’s albums has been a new rendition of the same song. Healy has described this pattern as the band “checking in” with each release.

“What we’re doing is kind of like checking in every time. You open the door and you see someone you haven’t seen for what- in person. But hey, your hair’s different, you know? That kind of thing.”

The 1975 broke this tradition for the first time in their 2020 studio album Notes on a Conditional Form. In this version, the song was replaced with a speech by environmentalist Greta Thunberg.

For Being Funny in a Foreign Language, The 1975 will return to opening with a record that features songwriter Matty Healy, but this time he has opted to change the lyrics of the iconic track.

For this rendition, “The 1975” will be about Healy holding himself accountable, and pointing out his flaws. One of the new lyrics has been revealed as:

“making an aesthetic out of not doing well and mining all the bits of you you think you can sell”

According to a 2022 interview with Pitchfork, Healy cut some lyrics from the track that were deemed too “self-referential, even for him”. This included the line:

“You owe James Murphy 20 percent of this song, your career, and the whole idea/Of living in the city with a tingle of fear.”

The 1975 – The 1975 (BFIAFL) Lyrics

[Verse 1]
This will get bigger if you know what I mean
I’m sorry if you’re livin’ and you’re seventeen
I heard it’s en vogue to be super thin
But your friends aren’t thick so they can’t come in
I’m feelin’ apathetic after scrollin’ through hell
I think I’ve got a boner
But I can’t really tell and the fans are on

[Pre-Chorus]
It’s cynical
This Adderall
And vitriol
And young people drinkin’ Aperol

skaiwater “#miles” (Live Performance) | Open Mic

[Chorus]
And it’s about time
This is what it looks like

[Verse 2]
I’m sorry about my twenties, I was learnin’ the ropes
I had a tendency of thinkin’ about it after I spoke
We’re experiencin’ life through the postmodern lens
Oh, call it like it is
You’re makin’ an aesthetic out of not doin’ well
And minin’ all the bits of you
You think you can sell whilst the fans are on

[Pre-Chorus]
Whimsical, political
Liberal, with young people as collateral
You see, I can’t sleep ’cause the American Dream
Has been buying up all of my self-esteem
While QAnon created a legitimate scene
But it was just some bloke in the Philippines

[Chorus]
And it’s about time
(And it’s about time)
(This is what it looks like)
(And it’s about time)
(And it’s about time)
(This is what it looks like)
(This is what it looks like)
[Post-Chorus]
I’m sorry if you’re livin’ and you’re seventeen
I’m sorry if you’re livin’ and you’re seventeen
I’m sorry if you’re livin’ and you’re seventeen
I’m sorry if you’re livin’ and you’re seventeen
I’m sorry if you’re livin’ and you’re seventeen
I’m sorry if you’re livin’ and you’re seventeen
I’m sorry if you’re livin’ and you’re seventeen
I’m sorry if you’re livin’ and you’re seventeen.
